Trump Proposes Plan To End Shutdown Already Rejected By Democrats After Leaks

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 20th January, 2019) US President Donald Trump proposed on Saturday a plan to end the budget crisis, which involves the allocation of $5.7 billion by the Congress for border security in exchange for extending the status of certain categories of migrants in the United States

The plans has already rejected by Democrats on the basis of leaked details of the proposal in the media.

"To physically secure our border, the plan includes $5.7 billion for a strategic deployment of physical barriers or a wall," Trump said at the White House.

The president noted that his proposal envisages construction of no more than 230 miles (370 kilometers) of the barrier this year.

Trump also said that the Republicans in the Senate were ready to consider concrete measures to overcome the budget crisis as early as next week.

About a quarter of US departments and Federal agencies have been closed for almost a month due to budget disputes. Trump refuses to sign any budget law without $5.7 billion for the border guard and the construction of the wall, and the Democrats in US Congress refuse to allocate these funds.
