Pakistani Importers Invited To Source Palm Products Requirements From Malaysia

Deputy Minister, Malaysian Ministry of Primary Industry Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin has said that Pakistani importers were encouraged to source their palm products requirements from Malaysia for better product quality and reliability
Addressing a presser at a local hotel on Saturday, he said that his country had introduced the Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO) in 2013 through which the country pledges production of palm oil in a manner that not only complies with the international standards in terms of quality and food safety but also in environment and social standards.
The minister said that Pakistan has been an important partner for Malaysian palm oil since 1970 and this relationship has been translated into trade cooperation.
He apprised that Malaysia has also invested in oil refinery, edible oil to process crude palm oil and produce downstream products.
He said that Malaysia has a bulking storage facility at Port Qasim.
The Malaysian Minister said that Pakistan was the fourth largest importer of Malaysian palm products with an intake of 1.37 million tones in 2017.
Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin said that Pakistan was an important market for palm kernel cake.
He said there was a strong potential for further development and expansion of bilateral economic cooperation and partnership between both Malaysia and Pakistan.
Briefing the media about the economic, promotion and investment mission of Malaysian Ministry of Primary Industry to Pakistan, he said that main objective of the mission was to enhance bilateral trade between the two countries.
