Slight Increase Witness In Exports Due To Govt's Efforts: Abdul Razzak Dawood

Advisor to Prime Minister on Commerce, Textile, Industries and Investment Abdul Razzak Dawood on Saturday said that efforts of present government has started yielding results as slight increase was being witnessed in exports of the country
Addressing the Pakistan Edible Oil Conference here at a local hotel, he expressed the hope that this year highest ever target of export would be achieved.
The advisor said "we are spending 4 billion Dollars on import of oil which is not acceptable and we as a nation cannot afford that kind of expenditure". He also appealed to the business community to come forward and assist the government to overcome such challenges.
He said that lack of quality research in new varsities and research institutions have put negative impact on the agriculture sector.
Razzak Dawood said that cooperation of China has been sought for development in the agriculture sector.
He said the present government was pursuing an export growth strategy.
The advisor said the government would also focus on increasing edible oil production locally.
The advisor said that Cargill Inc, a US based Company, has expressed interest to invest in Pakistan.
