PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Jan, 2019 ) :President Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Olympic Association and former sports Minister Syed Aqil Shah Thursday said that the modern constitution under the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Vision-2020 would be implemented with zeal and spirit.

Addressing a press conference here at local hotel, Syed Aqil Shah, who is also Vice President of the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA), said that they had attended a general council recently of the Pakistan Olympic Association at Lahore wherein it was decided to implement the modern constitution according to the Vision-2020 of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) issued for its members countries across the world.

He said KP Olympic Association decided to bid to get the rights of the first Youth Games of Pakistan. It would be an historical moments that KP Olympic Association with the collaboration of Directorate of Sports KP and government of KP hold the first Youth Games to be held under the supervision of Pakistan Olympic Association.

He said, "We have in our general council unanimously decided to follow the Vision-2020 besides introduction of two more games including one each game under the aegis of school Olympic Association and Youth Olympic Association". He said with the introduction of the new games it would pay the way for an upcoming talent at grassroots level.

He said Khyber Olympic Association would soon call up the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Senior Minister Sports Muhammad Atif Khan and Director General Sports Junaid and would appraise them about holding of School and Youth Olympic Games.

"We have told all the members across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to hold their respective talent hunt schemes in each of the districts affiliated with KP Olympic Association," Aqil Shah added.

About the formation of the KP School Olympic and KP Youth Olympic bodies, Syed Aqil Shah disclosed that the Directorate of Sports, Colleges and Elementary education would be taken on board because the nominees of the KP School Olympics and KP Youth Olympic would now be part of the KP Olympic Association and would have their voting right in the general council as well.

About the merger of the FATA Olympic Association, it said they were waiting for the notification to be issued by Pakistan Olympic Association in which they would also dictate the way and means after the decision of the Federal govt to merge tribal districts into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He said if the decision of the merger would be made well before the holding of the 33rd National Games to be organized in Quetta, Balochistan, then KP Olympic Association would have a bigger contingent. "We are just waiting for NCO Pakistan to decide the fate of FATA Olympic Association," he said. He said with the merger of FATA Olympic Association into KP Olympic Association it could make a stronger contingent because of the exiting talent of various games in tribal districts.

In a question he said Directorate of Sports KP does not have the mandate to hold the games rather it could extend facilities to the KP Olympic Association. The Directorate of Sports KP could hold talent hunt schemes rather it is not in their mandate to hold games, he said.

He said KP Olympic Association also directed the entire affiliated units to hold their election in time. For election, he said, they have to inform the KP Olympic Association and Directorate of Sports KP to send their nominees as observe in each of the election.

He also demanded from the Directorate of Sports KP to issue the annual grant to those associations only which have proper authority letter of the KP Olympic Association.
