KIEV (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 17th January, 2019) The law on changing the jurisdiction of religious communities in Ukraine, adopted by the Ukrainian parliament, is criminal, it is an attempt to distract Ukrainians before the elections and should be challenged in court for violating the rights of believers, canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) spokesman Vasily Anisimov said Thursday.

The Ukrainian parliament at a meeting on Thursday adopted, at the second attempt, a law on changing the jurisdiction of religious communities, which could deprive the UOC of its churches. The decision was supported by 229 parliamentarians with the necessary minimum of 226 votes.

"This is all criminal, illegal and we hope that everyone will be held accountable for this not only in the Last Judgment before God, but also in the district court for violating the law and rights of believers," Anisimov said.
