Kiev's Ban on Russian Observers Shows Ukraine Has Something to Hide in Elections - Moscow

Kiev's intention to prevent accreditation of Russian representatives to monitor the elections in Ukraine as part of the OSCE ODIHR mission shows that the Ukrainian authorities have something to hide, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement Thursday

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 17th January, 2019) Kiev's intention to prevent accreditation of Russian representatives to monitor the elections in Ukraine as part of the OSCE ODIHR mission shows that the Ukrainian authorities have something to hide, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement Thursday.

"Ukrainian Foreign Minister P. Klimkin's intention not to allow accreditation of Russian representatives to the OSCE ODIHR observation mission for the upcoming elections is indicative in this regard. It seems that the authorities have something to hide," the ministry said.

It said the Ukrainian election campaign was likely to become the dirtiest and most scandalous in history, adding that Russia hoped the West would assess the compliance of that campaign with international norms and OSCE standards.
