WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 17th January, 2019) The US Missile Defense Review (MDR) will address cruise missile and hypersonic weapons in addition to ballistic missile threats, a senior US administration official told reporters.
"This Missile Defense Review is responding to an environment in which we have not just ballistic missile threats but also cruise missile threats and other types of weapons like hypersonic... so expanding the scope of what we're postured to defend against with this new review," the official said in a conference call on Wednesday.
The new MDR will present a new strategy and posture that will set the path to strengthen the United States' current missile defense capabilities and make the case for urgent investment into new missile defense capabilities, the official added.
