Russian Military Delivers Food Packages, Blankets To Syria's Aleppo Province - Ministry

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 16th January, 2019) The Russian military delivered 500 humanitarian food packages and 300 blankets to residents of the Syrian province of Aleppo on Tuesday, head of the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for Syrian Reconciliation Lt. Gen. Sergei Solomatin said.

"Representatives of the Russian Centre for Reconciliation carried out a humanitarian operation in the settlement of Saidah, Aleppo province. People received 500 food sets and 300 blankets," Solomatin said at a briefing.

According to Solomatin, Syrian refugees continued returning to their homes, with ten checkpoints operating with support of the Russian center.

"As for January 14, 2019, in total 217,203 Syrians returned," Solomatin added.

Solomatin also noted the ongoing build-up of the country's infrastructure, adding that 973 kilometers (605 miles) of roads were repaired, as of Monday.

The Russian military police, meanwhile, performed two patrols along a 5-km (3-mile) security zone near the city of Manbij on Monday.

Over the past 24 hours, no violations of the ceasefire regime have been registered, he added.

Apart from being one of the guarantors of the ceasefire in Syria, Russia has been also assisting Damascus in the post-war reconstruction and the return of tens of thousands of refugees. The Russian military regularly delivers humanitarian aid across the country.
