The Punjab Assembly Tuesday unanimously adopted a resolution felicitating Pakistan Army for shooting down an Indian spy drone in Bagh sector
The House through another resolution, recommended the Federal government to amend the Constitution and election laws to declare a seat vacant in case a member-elect on the seat does not take oath within three months of the election. The mover hailing from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was referring to MPA-elect Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan who won the seat of Punjab Assembly but yet to take oath even passage of over three months.
The House deferred a resolution regarding exorbitant fees of private hospitals' doctors for further discussion. While, two other resolutions recommended to change the Benazir Income Support Programme and banning the beggary were withdrawn by the movers.
Earlier, the seventh sitting of the sixth session was started an hour and 45 minutes behind its scheduled time with Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi in the chair. Some 35 lawmakers were present at the outset of the sitting.
Leader of the Opposition Hamza Shehbaz did not turn to the House.
Soon after recitation from the holy Quran, Provincial Ministers for food and Auqaf & Religious Affairs, Samiullah Chaudhry and Saeedul Hassan Shah responded to queries by lawmakers regarding their departments.
On issue of tapping of phone call between Provincial Law Minister Raja Muhammad Basharat and Dr Areeba Abbasi by the Medical Superintendent of Benazir Bhutto Hospital Rawalpindi, the Chair directed the Provincial Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid to immediately suspend the said MS and referred the matter to the special Committee-III.
The House while admitting an adjournment motion, would hold discussion of the issue of wastage of wheat due to negligence of the department concerned on next sitting on Wednesday (January 16, 2019).
It is pertinent to mention that detained PML-N MPA Khawaja Salman Rafiq attended the sitting following production order by the Punjab Assembly Speaker.
On completion of the day's agenda, the Speaker adjourned the House to meet again on January 16 (Wednesday) at 11 am.
