Sindh University Organizes IT Project Exhibition

The Institute of Information and Communication Technology (IICT), University of Sindh, Jamshoro Tuesday organized an exhibition of the IT projects of final year students of morning and evening
The Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Fateh Muhammad Burfat inaugurated the event where around 122 projects on various themes of Information Technology, Software Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication prepared by students of IICT were displayed.
The projects were related to online food website, tuition hub, students' attendance system, midterm testing system and home maintenance service. urdu training book solutions of various academic, social, management, business and industrial issues were also some of the major themes of the projects put on display.
The students under the supervision of their teachers completed those projects in four month semester period. A large number of students, faculty and IT experts from various IT houses witnessed the efforts of young IT scientists and appreciated their work.
In his remarks on the occasion, the Vice Chancellor said this is the era of internet, automation and innovation and there is the need that students must make the most of available IT options.
Dr. Burfat opined that the projects developed by the young brains were highly appreciable adding that the contribution of the highly qualified IT faculty was also highly laudable. He said that the students were privileged to have a cluster of 32 foreign PhD teacher experts at the institute to educate and guide them in their innovative researches.
"IICT University of Sindh has contributed a lot to the university by preparing significant projects and the efforts of young students need to be highlighted in the market so that public should know about their work and they may get proper attention of the appropriate quarters which may lead to opening for them the doors of job market", Dr.
Burfat remarked. The Vice Chancellor said that the University had full realization of the importance of IT and it would provide latest IT equipment to IICT very soon.
According to organizers, each year a final year project competition is held among each discipline falling in the purview of Institute of Information and Communication Technology where students are evaluated under categories based on their project performance and working.
The expert academicians are invited from Sindh University, ISRA University, Mehran University and software houses to evaluate and asses the quality and work of the projects to finalize the best project in each discipline, best innovative idea, best research contribution, best contribution to community and best poster design. For each of these categories the winners are awarded shields and certificates.
In addition, all final year undergraduate students of IICT are required to undertake Final Year Project (FYP) which is a mandatory requirement for them for earning bachelor degree in BS Information Technology, Software Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication. Each student is required to work either in a group or individually.
Among others, the Director IICT Prof. Dr. Imdad Ali Ismaili, Dr. Azhar Ali Shah, Dr. Khalil-ul-Rehman Khombati, Dr. Shahzad Ahmed Memon and others were also present on the occasion.
