RPT: PREVIEW - Putin To Meet With Zimbabwe's Mnangagwa In Moscow On Tuesday

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 15th January, 2019) Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold talks on Tuesday with his Zimbabwean counterpart Emmerson Mnangagwa as part of the latter's first official visit to Moscow.

Mnangagwa landed at Moscow's Vnukovo-2 Airport on Monday, where he was welcomed by Zimbabwean Ambassador in Russia Mike Nicholas Sango, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Presidential Representative for the middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov and Igor Bogdashev, the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry's State Protocol Department.

According to the Kremlin, Putin and Mnangagwa will discuss the Russian-Zimbabwean relationship as well as pressing regional and international issues.

Mnangagwa won 50.8 percent of votes in Zimbabwe's July 30 presidential election, compared to 44 percent for opposition leader Nelson Chamisa.

Commenting on the election results, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that Moscow was interested in strengthening mutually beneficial political, economic and cultural cooperation with Harare.
