From cricket ground to commentary box: Marina Iqbal becomes Pakistan’s first female cricket commentator

Adding another feather to her cap, she did the commentary for the Pak-Australia women cricket series held in Malaysia.

Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 13th January, 2018) Marina Iqbal, former national team player has become the country’s first female cricket commentator.

From cricket ground to commentary box, Marina continues to break stereotypes.

Adding another feather to her cap, she did the commentary for the Pak-Australia women cricket series held in Malaysia.

Marina herself was a part of the national cricket team from 2009 to 2015. About the development, she said that she became a cricketer after watching Imran Khan’s victory speech at the 1992 World Cup.

“I have always wanted to become a commentator and now I think I have opened a new door for girls in Pakistan,” she said.

Meanwhile, politicians, cricketers and journalists are lauding Marina for this achievement.

Human Rights Minister Dr Shireen Mazari said, “Great to see our women moving forward decisively in the world of sports! Well done #MarinaIqbal”

Cricketer Muhammad Hafeez wrote, All the best to Marina Iqbal & Well done @GamePlanPK promoting talent of Pakistan.”

Meanwhile, other people also appreciated the power lady.

Marina thanked them all and vowed to continue making Pakistan proud.
