MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 10th January, 2019) The verification of BBC compliance with licensing and mandatory requirements in the field of broadcasting will be held from January 14 to January 31, 2019, Russia's telecommunications watchdog Roskomnadzor said Thursday."In the period from January 14 to January 31, 2019, an inspection of OOO British Television's� compliance with licensing and mandatory requirements in the field of television and radio broadcasting will be conducted," Roskomnadzor said in a statement.
"A request has been sent to OOO British Television to submit documents verifying the compliance with the Media Law on the restriction of direct or indirect control of Russian media by foreign organizations. The deadline for submitting this information is January 16, 2019," the statement said.
Roskomnadzor said on December 21 it had started the checks to verify the compliance by the BBC World News, as well as BBC internet resources, with the Russian law after the UK Office of Communications (Ofcom) accused the RT broadcaster of breaching the regulator's rules and failing to provide impartial news coverage in seven programs aired in March and April.
