Launch of Two Russian Lunar Missions Postponed by One Year - Roscosmos Chief

The launch of Luna-26 orbiter has been postponed until 2023, while Luna-27 lander mission has been delayed until 2024, the head of Russia's Roscosmos space corporation, Dmitry Rogozin, said on Thursday

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 10th January, 2019) The launch of Luna-26 orbiter has been postponed until 2023, while Luna-27 lander mission has been delayed until 2024, the head of Russia's Roscosmos space corporation, Dmitry Rogozin, said on Thursday.

Luna-26 and Luna-27 missions were previously expected to be launched in 2022 and 2023 respectively.

"We have decided to resume the lunar program. We will send the first lunar spacecraft, Luna-25, in 2021. Luna-26 and Luna-27 will lift off in 2023 and 2024 respectively," the official told the Rossiya-24 broadcaster.
