Almost 200 Investment Projects Being Implemented in Russia's Crimea - Authorities

Investors are currently implementing 187 investment projects in the southern Russian Republic of Crimea, Lyudmila Blank, the republic's economic development minister, told Sputnik on Thursday

SIMFEROPOL (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 10th January, 2019) Investors are currently implementing 187 investment projects in the southern Russian Republic of Crimea, Lyudmila Blank, the republic's economic development minister, told Sputnik on Thursday.

"A total of 187 investment projects are being implemented on the territory of the Republic of Crimea, with the total investment volume exceeding 158.3 billion rubles [$2.4 billion], and around 14,000 jobs are planned to be created within the framework of these projects," Blank said.

She specified that the investors were mostly interested in agriculture, construction, and manufacturing.

Blank also cited the biggest and the most successful investment projects currently being implemented in Crimea: wine production in Koktebel; construction of the Arena-Crimea sports complex in Yevpatoria and a modern residential complex in Simferopol; cultivation of land for vineyards, gardens and fruit fields in the Bakhchysarai Region; and creation of a fish farm in the Dzhankoy Region.

Irina Kiviko, Crimea's vice prime minister, in turn, told Sputnik that 2,400 entities owned by organizations and individuals from 56 countries were registered in the republic.

"These are mainly companies and individuals from Ukraine, Cyprus, Belarus, the Virgin Islands, the United Kingdom, Germany, Belize, Israel, Seychelles, Turkey, and others," Kiviko said.

Crimea rejoined Russia in 2014 following a referendum in which 97 percent of voters chose in favor of the move.
