Azam Swati’s resignation accepted  

The president accepted Azam Swati’s resignation upon the advice of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 10th January, 2019) President Dr Arif Alvi has accepted the resignation of Minister for Science and Technology Azam Swati.

The president accepted Azam Swati’s resignation upon the advice of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The cabinet division has issued a notification approving Azam Swati’s resignation as Minister for Science and Technology.

According to the notification, the resignation had come into effect from December 6, 2018.

However, the notification has been issued after one month and three days.

Minister for Science and Technology Azam Swati had tendered his resignation to Prime Minister in a meeting at the PM Office on December 6, 2018 over allegations that he played a role in the 'unlawful' transfer of former Islamabad IG Jan Mohammad.

Swati is, currently, under investigation for alleged misuse of authority and the Supreme Court of Pakistan had decided to try him under Article 62(1)(f) of the Constitution.

The chief justice had taken suo motu notice of the transfer of Inspector General of Police Islamabad Jan Muhammad on October 27, 2018 for allegedly refusing to take action on the complaint by Swati's son regarding fight over purported encroachment by a family at their farmhouse.

The minister had decided to resign from the office till the decision of the case against him.
