Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar has reiterated Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (PTI) government's resolve to root out corruption, in order to make Pakistan a prosperous country

London (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th Jan, 2019 ) :Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar has reiterated Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (PTI) government's resolve to root out corruption, in order to make Pakistan a prosperous country.

He said it was aimed providing equal opportunities and rights to all citizens, in line with the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Dr.Allama Mohammad Iqbal.

He was addressing the British Pakistani and Kashmiri community at a dinner hosted in his honour by World Congress of Overseas Pakistanis WCOP) (UK) at Holiday Inn London Tuesday evening.

A large number of British-Pakistani and Kashmiri Community, Members Parliament, Lords, Mayors and Councillors attended the reception.

Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar, currently on a visit to United Kingdom (UK), was warmly welcomed by Chairman WCOP (UK) Naheed Randawa, its Secretary General Majid Chaudhry, and British-Pakistani and Kashmiri community. Lord Nazir Ahmed, Naheed Randawa, and Shahzada Riaz also spoke on the occasion.

Governor Punjab Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar thanked WCOP and British Pakistani and Kashmiri community for hosting the reception.

He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan was committed to making Pakistan a modern welfare state where all citizens have equal rights and equal opportunities.

Chaudhry Sarwar said that successive past governments assured the people to resolve their problems and make Pakistan a prosperous country but they failed to fulfill their pledges with the masses.

He said that PTI government under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan was taking practical steps and measure for the welfare of common man. The PTI government has launched a campaign against the corrupt elements who plundered the national wealth through corrupt practices.

He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan led PTI government would never compromise on corruption and recover the plundered money from those elements who rendered economic losses to the country.

The Punjab Governor said that putting the economy on right track was the priority of the government, besides bolstering exports by extending incentives to the industrialists and exporters for progress of the country.

He said that PTI government wanted to boost exports and contain imports to reduce trade deficit.

"Our exports are worth US $ 20 billion against our imports of US $ 60 billion", he added.

He pointed out that PTI government has provided financial support to All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTAMA) for revival of their sick units which he hoped it would help create employment opportunities besides enhancing country's textile exports.

Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar said that government was consulting business community and formulating economic policies, keeping in view of their valuable suggestions.

Highlighting the role of Pakistani diaspora, he said that they were playing an important role in the economic development of their motherland (Pakistan) by contributing US $ 20 billion in the form of annual remittances. He assured the diaspora that their genuine problems would be looked into for resolution.

He said that Pakistani diaspora had always supported Pakistan and its people, specially in the natural calamities like earthquakes and floods in the country.

He hoped that Pakistani diaspora would continue to play their vital role for the socio economic development of their motherland (Pakistan).

In his address of welcome, Naheed Randawa appreciated the services of Governor Punjab Mohammad Sarwar for the cause of the country.

He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan was a honest and upright person and hoped that under his leadership Pakistan would be able to tackle the challenges, being faced by the country.

Lord Nazir Ahmed said that overseas Pakistanis were ready to support Pakistan. He called for consulting overseas Pakistanis.

Shahzad Riaz in his remarks termed Governor Punjab Mohammad Sarwar and Lord Nazir Ahmed as role models for the British Pakistanis and Kashmiris.
