At least three people were killed and another 604 injured after two trains collided in South Africa on Tuesday, Solly Msimanga, executive mayor of the City of Tshwane metropolitan municipality, said.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 08th January, 2019) At least three people were killed and another 604 injured after two trains collided in South Africa on Tuesday, Solly Msimanga, executive mayor of the City of Tshwane metropolitan municipality, said.

Earlier reports suggested that three people died and some 200 were wounded.

"Today it's a sad day in the @CityTshwane after two trains collided, resulting in 3 fatalities and 604 passenger injuries ... On behalf of the City of Tshwane, I relay our heartfelt and sincere condolences to the families of those that have lost lives and wish all those injured a speedy recovery," Msimanga said on Twitter.

The accident took place in Mountainview, northwest of Pretoria in the City of Tshwane municipality.
