France Keen to Host Russian Seasons in 2020 But Talks Still Underway - Russian Official

France is very much willing to host Russian Seasons, an international festival of Russian culture, in 2020, but the negotiations are still ongoing, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets told Sputnik.

BERLIN (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 07th January, 2019) France is very much willing to host Russian Seasons, an international festival of Russian culture, in 2020, but the negotiations are still ongoing, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Olga Golodets told Sputnik.

"France is our most current request, but we have not yet finalized this. They want it very much and we are negotiating," Golodets said.

As the deputy prime minister on Monday attends the opening of the Russian Seasons in Germany, she noted that the event will help to establish new cultural ties between Moscow and Berlin.

"This year, the Russian Seasons in Germany will be very bright, and this is not just because there are more than 450 events in 77 cities of Germany, but also because new areas of activity, new areas of culture will be covered. For example, Ilya Averbukh will come to Germany with with his amazing performance of the 'Carmen on Ice.' I am sure that during the Russian Seasons, new contacts will be made, our contacts will continue ... in the field of music," Golodets added.

The Russian Seasons kicked off in Germany on Monday with Pyotr Tchaikovsky's opera Iolanta performed by soloists of the opera troupe, choir and symphony orchestra of the Mariinsky Theater under the Russian world famous conductor Valery Gergiev.

The festival was held for the first time in 2017 in Japan. Over 20 organizations participated in events that were organized in 40 Japanese cities. Last year, it was held in 75 Italian cities. Millions of people attended the previous festival.
