Indian players wear mothers’ names on shirt against New Zealand

NEW DELHI, (Pakistan Point News - 29th Oct, 2016) : For special initiative, all the members of the Indian cricket team wore jerseys bearing their respective mother's name in the fifth and final ODI against New Zealand. Instead of the usual customary practice of wearing their last Names on the back of the shirt, the team wore their mother’s name on jerseys. According to the India Media, this is the collaborative initiative of BCC and an Indian company to support the role of women in their lives.

A new tv campaign was launched which shows Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane proudly wearing their mothers' names on their jerseys. Speaking about it, MS Dhoni said, “I have always been wearing my father’s name and no one questioned about that, why now?” Virat kohli said that Saroj and Kohli, both are part of my origin. middle order batsman Ajinkya Rahane has said that for him it is equally important to make his mother as much proud as his father.
