While Shehryar Afridi’s anti-drug campaign continues, his nephew arrested for possessing drugs

Almost half a kilogram of hashish was recovered from Talal and two of his friends.

Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 7th January, 2019) The nephew of Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Afridi was arrested for possessing drugs.

Media reports said that an FIR was lodged against Talal Nadir Afridi on December 11, 2018, at the Jand Attock police station.

Almost half a kilogram of hashish was recovered from Talal and two of his friends.

The law enforcement personnel had intercepted their car due to suspicious activity but they tried to escape. The police eventually caught the vehicle and arrested them.

Talal was given a bail later.

Following the incident, an official statement by the Interior Ministry stated that all are equal in front of the law, even if they belong to the incumbent Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government.

The law will forge its own way regardless of whether someone is a minister or a minister’s relative. No one can influence the law enforcement agencies (LEAs), it added.

No one, hiding behind the excuse of any incident, can become a hindrance in the Interior Ministry’s war against land-grabbers and drug mafia, it noted.

Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Afridi actively campaigns against the use of drugs after he claimed that as many as 75 per cent female students in Islamabad are addicted to stimulating drugs, including ice and crystal meth; whereas almost 45 percent of male students too are substance abusers.

About his campaign, the state minister wrote on Twitter, “It is our binding duty as office holder to walk every aisle and path while carrying the message against drugs.”
