Deepika has proved herself to be a very versatile actress with her roles in various movies, including Padmavat, Tamasha, a very versatile actress with her roles in various movies, including Padmavat, Tamasha, Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani and others.
In recent years, Deepika has proved her mettle in Bollywood. From Chennai Express and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani in 2013 to Padmaavat in 2018, there has been hardly an appearance where she hasn’t made a mark.
Prior to acting, Deepika worked as a successful model. Director Farah Khan later decided to give Deepika her Bollywood break and cast her opposite Shah Rukh Khan in Om Shanti Om. The film, released in 2007, was a huge hit.
In 2008-09, she did two films Bachna Aye Haseeno and Chandni Chowk to China. While one earned profits, the other received a cold response at the box office.
With Imtiaz Ali’s Love Aaj Kal, where she played the love interest of Saif Ali Khan, Deepika was back in the game.
This was followed by a massive career low. Karthik Calling Karthik, Housefull, Lafangey Parindey, Break Ke Baad, Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey, Aarakshan and Desi Boyz did little to further her career.
She again rose to fame in 2012 with Cocktail.
From here onwards, Deepika played a wide spectrum of characters, in Race 2, Chennai Express, Piku, Yeh Jaawani Hai Deewani and Tamasha.
In 2015, she worked with Sanjay Leela Bhansali in Bajirao Mastani, having already worked with him in Ram Leela.
In 2017, Deepika signed her first Hollywood film, xXx: Return of Xander Cage which was a big international hit.
She last appeared in Padmaavat which also managed to succeed despite controversies.
Deepika is also loved for being the most honest and candid stars in Bollywood. Be it her relationships or her illness, she has spoken about it in the public.
Deepika was diagnosed with depression in 2014 but she felt no shame in revealing her dark side to the world. She not only spoke about her own battle but has become a champion for the cause with her foundation.
Deepika got married to fellow actor Ranveer Singh in Italy in November, 2018.
