Indian Anti-Terror Agency Confirms Raids in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Arrest of 10 IS Suspects

The Indian National Investigation Agency (NIA) has carried out searches in 17 locations in Delhi and the northern state of Uttar Pradesh and arrested 10 individuals suspected of having links to the Islamic State terrorist group (IS, or ISIS, outlawed in Russia), NIA Inspector General Alok Mital said on Wednesday.

NEW DELHI (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 26th December, 2018) The Indian National Investigation Agency (NIA) has carried out searches in 17 locations in Delhi and the northern state of Uttar Pradesh and arrested 10 individuals suspected of having links to the Islamic State terrorist group (IS, or ISIS, outlawed in Russia), NIA Inspector General Alok Mital said on Wednesday.

"NIA has carried out searches at 17 locations in Delhi and in UP [Uttar Pradesh] with active support of Delhi Police and UP Police in connection with an ISIS inspired module ... in an advanced stage of their preparation and ... at an advanced stage of carrying out a series of blasts," Mittal said.

The agency interrogated 16 suspects and then arrested 10 people.

"Interrogation is going on for the all the accused and suspected persons. We expect some more arrest later," Mittal underlined.

During the searches police seized a large amount of weapons, explosive materials and ammunition, according to the inspector general.
