RT Editor-In-Chief Shares Details of UK Media Watchdog Ofcom's Concerns About Broadcaster

RT broadcaster's Editor-in-Chief Margarita Simonyan on Friday shared some details about the concerns of the UK Office of Communications (Ofcom) regarding the outlet

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 21st December, 2018) RT broadcaster's Editor-in-Chief Margarita Simonyan on Friday shared some details about the concerns of the UK Office of Communications (Ofcom) regarding the outlet.

Russian communications watchdog Roskomnadzor said earlier in the day it had initiated an inspection of the BBC World news channel in Russia as well as BBC digital editions to verify the media's compliance with the Russian law after Ofcom accused RT broadcaster of bias.

"British Ofcom considers it a breach of broadcasting code that our host interrupted former US ambassador to Syria on air. In the story on violence against Roma in Ukraine, Ofcom would like to see more of the point of view of those who perpetuated this violence. We did include it, but, oops, it was not enough," Simonyan wrote.

The RT editor-in-chief added that yet another fault that the watchdog found with RT was the fact that they reported on the statement of the Russian Defense Ministry on Syria, without expressing doubt in it.

Simonyan added that the UK regulator made it "unequivocally" clear that they would take away the broadcaster's license.
