The British Airways would resume its flight operations to Pakistan from June, 2019
Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 19th December, 2018) Like all of Pakistan, Shaniera Akram, the wife of former cricketer Wasim Akram, is also excited about the return of British Airways to the country.
The British Airways on Tuesday announced that it would resume its flight operations to Pakistan from June next year with direct flights between Heathrow-London and Islamabad thrice a week.
Thomas Drew CMG, the British High Commissioner to Pakistan, while sharing the news, said, “I am delighted to be welcoming British Airways back to Pakistan. The launch of direct flights by British Airways between London Heathrow and Islamabad’s new International Airport is excellent news for both countries.”
The announcement had brought a wave of joy among the people and government of Pakistan.
Meanwhile, Shaniera Akram welcomed British Airways to Pakistan and invited Thomas Drew to have Pakistani biryani as well.

The British Airways flight operations were suspended in 2008 following a suicide attack at Marriott Hotel in Islamabad that killed more than 50 people.
However, the British Airways will now resume its flight operations to Pakistan around June while tickets are already available.
The airline has a long history of flying to the city and offered its first scheduled flights between London and the Pakistani capital in 1976.
It will be the first Western carrier to restart flying to Pakistan, where a new airport in the capital has helped ease congestion and concerns about air travel security, since its pullout in 2008.
With the security situation being improved significantly improved in Pakistan, the militant attacks have sharply decreased in the country, giving ways to tourism and trade opportunities.
Moreover, the newly constructed New Islamabad International Airport will also be able to accomodate bigger planes.
