Iranian President to Visit Ankara on Wednesday Upon Erdogan's Invitation - Statement

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Wednesday will visit Ankara at the invitation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Iranian government said Tuesday.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 18th December, 2018) Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Wednesday will visit Ankara at the invitation of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Iranian government said Tuesday.

"The high-level delegation led by Hassan Rouhani on Wednesday will start its two-day visit to the capital of Turkey," the government said in a statement.

According to the statement, Rouhani is expected to participate in the fifth meeting of the Turkish-Iranian High Level Cooperation Council (HLCC). Moreover, in the course of the trip, a number of documents in economic, political and cultural domain will be signed.

The HLCC, an intergovernmental cooperation mechanism, was established back in 2014. The first meeting of the HLCC was held in Ankara on June 9, 2014 during the visit of Rouhani to Turkey. The HLCC is aimed at enhancing political dialogue of the two countries and addressing both bilateral and regional issues.
