Former Nepali Prime Minister Tulsi Giri passed away in his Budhanilkantha residence in the country's capital of Kathmandu at the age of 92, local media reported on Tuesday.

Giri died after a prolonged battle with liver cancer, according to the Kathmandu Post newspaper.

Giri was prime minister of Nepal in 1975-1977 and chairman of the Council of Ministers in 1963-1965.
