WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 18th December, 2018) Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will head the US delegation traveling to Brazil for the inauguration of President-elect Jair Bolsonaro, the White House said in a press release.
"President Donald J. Trump today announced the designation of a Presidential Delegation to the Federative Republic of Brazil to attend the Inauguration of His Excellency Jair Bolsonaro on January 1, 2019, in Brasilia, Brazil," the release said on Monday. "The Honorable Michael R. Pompeo, Secretary of State of the United States, will lead the delegation."
Also attending on behalf on the United States will be USAID Administrator Mark Green, Charge d'Affaires ad interim for the US Embassy in Brazil William Popp, and National Security Council Senior Director for Western Hemisphere Affairs Mauricio Claver-Carone, the release added.
Bolsonaro represents the right-wing Social Liberal Party in Brazil, and won a run-off election for president in October.
