PTI Govt Taking Steps For Making Country Economically Self-reliant: Dr Farrukh

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Dec, 2018 ) :Spokesman government of Pakistan on Economy and Energy Affairs Dr Farrukh Saleem on Thursday said Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI), leadership and its team was taking all important steps to make Pakistan a financially viable and economically self-reliant country.
Talking to a private news channel, he said a business-friendly culture and conducive environment had been provided to businessmen that will encourage investment in various sectors of the country.
He said that focus was given to improve the competitiveness of products to grab major share of exports from world markets.
Dr Farrukh said the government has introduced policies to facilitate the export industry.
To a question he said money laundering and smuggling had badly damaged the economy of the country besides weaken the institutions, adding that all out efforts were being made to discourage such practices in future.
To another question, he said foreign investors were taking keen interest in this region for exploring and availing business opportunities due to the fragile policies of the incumbent government.
He said Suzuki Motors, German and French companies besides Chinese investors were moving towards this region for safe and secure investment.
Two big German companies are opening their offices again in Pakistan, which he added had been closed in the past.
In reply to a question he said remittances had shown upward trend during the last four months.
Dr Farrukh Saleem said that confidence of the private sector had been revived due to business friendly policies of PTI government.
The Spokesman said the government was trying hard to remove hurdles for materialization of investor's interests.
He said the Center was actively working with the provincial governments and relevant ministries to remove barriers in the way of investment.
Lamenting over the lack of confidence and interest of the last governments for streamlining the economic sector, he said PTI government after coming to power had taken concrete measures to promote small and medium enterprises and rural development which he added 'key areas for achieving progress'.
