The European Central Bank on Thursday announced the end of its crisis-fighting bond-buying scheme, removing a key pillar of support for the economy even as clouds are gathering over the eurozone outlook.

Frankfurt am Main, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Dec, 2018 ) :The European Central Bank on Thursday announced the end of its crisis-fighting bond-buying scheme, removing a key pillar of support for the economy even as clouds are gathering over the eurozone outlook.

The ECB's governing council confirmed that it would stop buying government and corporate bonds at the end of December after a gradual winding down of the asset purchases in recent months. Through its so-called "quantitative easing" stimulus scheme, the ECB has injected some 2.6 trillion Euros ($3.0 trillion) into the eurozone economy since 2015.
