Govt College Matra, Buner Record Wins In HED Inter-College Volleyball Championship

Government Degree College Matra Peshawar and Degree College Daggar, Buner secured victories against their respective rivals in the Directorate of Higher Education (HED) Inter-College (Zonal) Boys Volleyball Championship, which got underway here at Government College Peshawar on Thursday.
Principal Government College Peshawar and Provincial President of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inter-College Games Professor Sharif Gul was the chief guest on this occasion who formally inaugurated the Championship in which a total of 16 teams qualified for the final round from eight different zones across the province are taking part.
Before the start of matches, the players of all the participating teams were introduced to him. He assured that all out efforts would be taken to facilitate the players.
In the opening match, Government Degree College Daggar, Buner recorded victory against Government Degree College Takht Nasarati, Karak by 3-1.The score was 25-23, 21-25, 25-20 and 25-23. Both Takht Nasarati Karak and Gaggar Buner team gave each other a tough fight witnessed by capacity crowd present inside the premises of the Government College Peshawar.
Nazim Ullah, Wahid, Waleed Khan, Syed Abbas and Sameer played well for Takht Nasarati, Karak and Shehzeb, Naveed, Junaid, Mushad Khan, setter Aqil and blocker Faisal and Anwar played well for Govt Degree College Daggar Buner.
In the second match, Government Degree College Matra, Peshawar secured a thumping one-sided victory in straight sets. The players of Matra, a college mostly dominated the Men volleyball, defeated Govt Degree College, Sabirabad, Karak by 3-0, the score was 25-23, 25-21 and 25-20.
For Matra main smashers Afaq and Amin, blockers Aamin, Hamza, Ghafoor and setter Aizaz and Waseem played well while for Govt Degree College Sabirabad Karak Abdullah, Nouman, Khalid, Sartaj and Zubair played well but did not properly responded the forceful smashes of Matra College.
Director sports Government College Peshawar and former international handball player Arshad Hussain, who is also organising secretary of the Championship, said that a total of 16 teams from eight different zones across KP qualified for the final round.
The teams comprising GC Peshawar, GDC Kalabat Township, Haripur, GDC Takhat Nasarati, Karak, GDC Daggar Buner, Govt Degree College Chota Lahore, Swabi, Govt Degree College Gulabad, Dir, Govt Degree College No. 3 Dera Ismail Khan, Govt Degree College Sara Norang, Govt Post Degree College Nowshera, Govt Degree College Bilot Dera Ismail Khan, Govt Post Degree College Warai, Dir Upper, Govt Degree College Sabirabad, Karak, Govt Degree College Matra Peshawar, Govt Post Degree Colleg No 1 Bannu and Jehanzeb College Swat participated in the championship.
