French diplomat hits two cars in Islamabad’s red zone

The police reached the scene following the incident and shifted the damaged cars to Secretariat Police Station.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 13th December, 2018) The French deputy consul general has hit two cars in Islamabad.

According to media reports, the diplomats in Pakistan continue to violate traffic rules as French Deputy Consul General Bruno Magenta’s car collided with two other cars in Islamabad’s red zone.

The police reached the scene following the incident and shifted the damaged cars to Secretariat Police Station.

Media reports further said that the French diplomat didn’t even have a driving license.

Moreover, the diplomat expressed anger for being investigated. The police then brought up the issue to higher authorities and took the damaged cars in its custody.

Bruno tried to use his influence and misbehaved with the police officials while police has also registered the complaint of the affected.

This is not the first time a foreign diplomat has misused his authority in Pakistan. In June, the car of a Japanese diplomat hit a motorcycle in Lahore, injuring him.

Earlier in April, the vehicle of Colonel Joseph, a defence attach at the US embassy in Islamabad, ran a red light and rammed into a motorcycle in the Federal capital, killing one man, Ateeq Baig, on the spot and injuring another.

The diplomat was let go by police after registration of a case.

On April 20, the government decided to not place the name of Colonel Joseph on the Exit Control List. The father of the deceased youth had moved the IHC to order placement of Colonel Joseph's name on the ECL. He had taken the stance that Colonel Joseph, while intoxicated, hit his son and he died on the spot.

The IHC referred the matter to the Interior Ministry but eventually, the US diplomat was allowed to leave the country in a US army plane.
