The joint opposition in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Wednesday demanded equal distribution of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) funded schemes.
Laiq Muhammad Khan of Awami National Party (ANP) on a point of order said no JICA scheme was planned in his constituency Torgher and he would move court against the injustice.
Leader of the Opposition Akram Khan Durrani supporting the point of order said he had held a meeting with Chief Minister Mehmood Khan over matters relating to the appointment of District Development Advisory Committee chairmen and class-IV employees, and development funds. The opposition might hold protest if development funds were not released to them, he added.
He called for equal distribution of development funds in all the Constituencies without any discrimination.
ANP's parliamentary leader Sardar Hussain Babak claimed that the opposition had been ignored in development projects during the last five years. Some 604 kilometer long roads were scheduled to be constructed under JICA, but not a single road in the constituencies of opposition members was included in projects, he added.
Inayatullah of Jamat-e-Islami and Sahibzada Sanaullah of Pakistan Peoples Party also criticized exclusion of constituencies of opposition members in the JICA projects.
Later, KP Minister for food Qalandar Lodhi assured equal provision of development schemes to all the members, saying he would convey the concerns of opposition to the chief minister.
