No Americans Among Victims of Strasbourg Shooting - Pompeo

No Americans were among the victims of the recent deadly shooting in the eastern French city of Strasbourg, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in an interview on Wednesday.

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 12th December, 2018) No Americans were among the victims of the recent deadly shooting in the eastern French city of Strasbourg, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in an interview on Wednesday.

"It appears there were no Americans killed or injured, but we still don't have all the facts just yet," Pompeo told Fox & Friends when asked about Tuesday's shooting.

At least two people were killed and a third was left brain-dead after a gunman opened fire close to Strasbourg's Christmas market on Tuesday. At least 12 other people were wounded in the attack, six of them gravely.

"It's obviously tragic," Pompeo added. "But these risks of terror, we all need to be mindful, they're everywhere. Europe has got an enormous challenge. The United States tries our best to help them. We try to keep Americans safe when they're traveling over this holiday season. This was a Christmas market. This appears to have been attacked because it was a Christmas market, although the facts are still developing."

The shooter fled the scene and remains at large. Media reports have said that the suspect is a 29-year-old native of Strasbourg who was previously convicted for an armed attack.
