Global War on Terror Requires Data From Police, Military Units in Arab World - INTERPOL

Police and military forces in Arab countries are being urged to feed data - including biometric markers - into an international database with nearly 44,000 terrorist profiles, International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) Secretary General Jurgen Stock told officers at a meeting of the Arab Interior Ministers Council (AIMC) in Tunis on Wednesday.

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 12th December, 2018) Police and military forces in Arab countries are being urged to feed data - including biometric markers - into an international database with nearly 44,000 terrorist profiles, International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) Secretary General Jurgen Stock told officers at a meeting of the Arab Interior Ministers Council (AIMC) in Tunis on Wednesday.

"Ensuring there are no blind spots created by geography or conflict is essential," Stock said, according to an INTERPOL press release. "This is why we have made a significant effort to ensure information is not just getting to the frontlines, but also being shared from them, especially through greater links between military and law enforcement."

Stock highlighted a "significant increase in the number of foreign terrorist profiles held by INTERPOL to nearly 44,000," with several thousand additional profiles related to bomb makers.

Operations, meetings and training sessions coordinated by INTERPOL across the middle East and North Africa have resulted in the identification of new bomb-making techniques as well the positive identification of a biological agent at a border crossing point, the release said.

INTERPOL operates a biometric database that has identified three prisoners in a Middle East country who had been detained under different Names and different nationalities, the release added.
