Renowned Agriculturist, Muhammad Boota on Wednesday said the current rain spell would augur well for the wheat crop in the district.
Talking to APP here, he said the rain would also be beneficial for Barseem and fodder etc.
He said that crops especially in arid areas had needed rains and the current spell of drizzle would help make crops healthy.
Deputy Director Research Information Unit Agriculture Department Faisalabad, Dr Muhammad Qavi Irshad said the recent wet spell increased moisture in the air which may cause suspension of chlorophyll system of the gram plants and attack of 'Jhulsao' disease may attack on leaves of the crop.
Therefore, gram growers should be careful and take appropriate measures in consultation with agri experts to save gram crop from damage, he added.
Dr Qavi Irshad further said that weeds were also very harmful for gram crops, therefore, farmers should remove all types of weeds from their crops.
He also advised the growers to prefer 'Godi' hoe through rotary-weeder instead of using spray for this purpose.
