Senate Body Urged Comprehensive Mechanism For Merged FATA Districts

Senate Standing Committee on States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) on Tuesday recommended to adopt comprehensive mechanism for sustainable development of merged districts of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).
The committee met here on Tuesday at Parliament House under the chairmanship of Senator Taj Muhammad Afridi.
Committee chairman said that serious efforts should be made for the stability of situation resurfaced after FATA merger.
He said all the stakeholders should be involved in the development process of FATA districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The committee also recommended that people of FATA, experts and civil society should be involved in the development process.
Earlier, senior officials of Ministry of States and Frontier Regions informed the committee that Rs. 80,000 million was reserved for rehabilitation package for Temporary Displaced Persons (TDPs) among which Rs. 5.353 million was approved, release and utilized for immediate rehabilitation.
Moreover, he added, an amount of Rs. 15.147 million was also approved as additional funds for immediate rehabilitation in TDPs return areas which was yet to be released.
The committee also discussed the details of employees with their designations workinghealth department at Tehsil Landikotal, Jamrode, Bara and Mulagori.
The committee also discussed future of Khassadar Force after merger with KPK in the meeting.
