US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that if Democrats do not vote for a spending bill that includes the amount of funding he wants for a wall along the US-Mexico border, the military will build the barrier instead.

They know how important it is!" Trump said in a Twitter message.
Trump is scheduled to meet with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi at the White House later on Tuesday to discuss the spending bills that still need to pass in order to prevent a partial government shutdown on December 22.
Congress still needs to pass an appropriations bill for the Department of Homeland Security that would include any funds for a border wall.
Trump said on Tuesday that both Schumer and Pelosi voter for a wall in 2006, but now will fight border security "at all cost."
The Trump administration is seeking $5 billion to build the border wall, but opposition from Democrats could lead to a government shutdown.
Democrats and some Republicans do not support Trump's agenda on building the wall and have urged the US president to work with Congress on reforming the US immigration system.
