Over Two Mln Women Associated With Homemade Embroidery: Ayesha Bano

Centre of Excellence for Rural Development University of Peshawar has arranged a seminar cum exhibition on homemade handcrafts and embroidery at Peshawar University Teachers Community Centre.

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Dec, 2018 ) :Centre of Excellence for Rural Development University of Peshawar has arranged a seminar cum exhibition on homemade handcrafts and embroidery at Peshawar University Teachers Community Centre.

The women belonging to various parts of the province had put on display their products at the stalls in the exhibition wherein the women evinced keen interest. Secretary KP Assembly Women Caucus Ayesha Bano was chief guest on the occasion.

Addressing the seminar Ayesha Bano said, over two million women are associated with the homemade handcrafts and embroidery in the country but no legislation done to regulate their business activities.

She called for proper legislation from the parliament with main focus on promoting the locally generated embroidery and handcrafts by the womenfolk across the country which is not less than of international standard if properly marketed.

The indigenous products produced by the womenfolk in the countryif properly exploited could earn add up millions of rupees to the nationalkitty, she told the audience.
