Greece, Russia Discuss Boost Of Defense Industry Cooperation - Greek Defense Ministry

ATHENS (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 11th December, 2018) Greece and Russia discussed strengthening of bilateral defense industry cooperation within a session of the 14th Russia-Greek Commission on Defense Industry Cooperation, the Greek Defense Ministry said Monday in a statement.

"The meeting was held as part of boosting defense industry cooperation between the two countries," the statement read.

The Greek delegation was headed by the general director of the General Directorate for Defense Investment and Armaments of the Defense Ministry, retired Vice Admiral Kyriakos Kyriakidis, while the Russian delegation was led by Director of the Russian Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) Dmitry Shugaev.

Further details of the negotiations remain unknown.

Russia and Greece have been developing the defense industry cooperation for years despite Athens' membership in NATO, with the Greek army using a number of Russian-produced weapons.
