US Democrats will likely launch an investigation into the Trump administration's policy on Saudi Arabia and examine Senior White House Adviser Jared Kushner's relations with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, media reported on Monday.
WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 10th December, 2018) US Democrats will likely launch an investigation into the Trump administration's policy on Saudi Arabia and examine Senior White House Adviser Jared Kushner's relations with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, media reported on Monday.Congressman Eliot Engel plans to initiate the probe, in which "everything is on the table," CNN reported, citing the lawmaker's aide.
On Sunday, The New York Times reported that Kushner has been providing to bin Salman on how to deal with the aftermath of the killing of The Washington Post contributor Jamal Khashoggi.
Kushner, who is also the son-in-law of President Donald Trump, has come under scrutiny for his close ties with the Crown Prince. Kushner has insisted in the past that he asked the Saudi royal family to "just to be transparent" in the investigation into Khashoggi's killing.
The writer went missing during a visit to the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul on October 2. Saudi Arabia initially insisted that Khashoggi left the Consulate unharmed, but later admitted that he was killed and dismembered on the premises. The kingdom has insisted that the killing was a rogue operation in which Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman was not involved.
The CIA, however, has reportedly concluded with high level of confidence that the Saudi crown prince was likely directly involved in the killing.
