Layyah Hospitals' Waste Being Sent To Rajanpur For Disposal

Waste from 49 government hospitals and 119 private hospitals in Layyah district was being sent to Rajanpur for proper disposal through incinerator as the incinerator at Layyah was out of order.
This was stated by officials in a meeting chaired by Deputy commissioner Babar Bashir here Monday.
DC directed all the hospitals including veterinary hospitals and all the five municipal committees in Layyah to come up with a coordinated plan for proper disposal of hospital waste in accordance with the waste management principles.
DC sought a report from officials regarding faulty incinerators so that it can be made functional properly to burn the hospital waste.
He also ordered municipal administrations to provide a comprehensive report detailing cleanliness situation, staff strength and situation regarding equipment and machinery available in their respective cities/towns in the district.
He said that hospitals should be clean and used syringes, bandages, and waste of operation theatres should be disposed off properly through incinerators to keep the public away from the risk of infectious diseases.
Rafaqat Ali Gilani, the special assistant to CM Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar, ordered officials on the occasion to ensure cleanliness in cities by using available resources.
Health department officials, environment department andmunicipal officials attended the meeting.
