Observers Say No Gross Violations At Armenian General Elections Registered In Yerevan

YEREVAN (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 09th December, 2018) There have been no significant violations registered in Yerevan during the ongoing Armenian parliamentary elections, a member of the Independent Observer monitoring group told Sputnik on Sunday.

Snap parliamentary elections are being held in Armenia on Sunday for the first time in the country's history. Two blocks and nine parties take part in them. There is no turnout threshold, however, to enter the parliament, a party must secure more than 5 percent of the vote and alliances must get over 7 percent. At the same time, according to the law, at least three political forces must be represented in parliament.

"So far, there are no violations at our polling station [number 8/16]. There are notifications of minor violations at other polling stations. But they will not influence the results of the elections," Daniel Bargesyan said.

According to the European Network of Election Monitoring Organizations (ENEMO), no violations have been recorded at the 9/59 polling station where Armenian President Armen Sarkissian had cast his ballot earlier in the day.

The press service of the Russian Central Electoral Commission (CEC) said that its representatives were monitoring the elections at eight polling stations and no violations had been registered so far.
