This solar night school for underprivileged children is making the real difference

The school starts around 7pm after sunset so these students can easily join after their work.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 8th December, 2018) The first solar night school of Pakistan has been launched in Faisalabad.

The school is dedicated specially to the slum children who work in streets all day and can’t attend regular school. These children are taught at night so they can make equal pace with the privileged children of the country.

The school starts around 7pm after sunset so these students can easily join after their work.

The Students Learning Under the Moon (SLUM) school initiative is taken by Rohayl Varind who aims to provide an alternative education system for 23 million out of school children living in Pakistan.

Since its inauguration in 2016, the Slum School system is teaching more than 100 students with free provisions of food, bags, books, clothes, sports items and stationary in the slum of Faisalabad.

The school not only teaches the basics to children from underprivileged backgrounds but also teaches them basic ethics and etiquette. Other engaging activities like Family Days, Sports Days, Ice Cream days, Mango Parties, Eid Milan Parties, Arts Classes are also arranged for the children to keep their spirits high.

The classes take place outdoors with just a whiteboard for the teacher to write on and a piece of cloth for the students to sit and learn.

With this initiative, not only the gap between the privileged and underprivileged is being bridged but it also provides an outlet for the children to make a difference in their lives and society through education.
