Rector of the Moscow State University (MSU) Victor Sadovnichy told Sputnik on Friday that an anti-doping laboratory within the university had already begun operating.

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 07th December, 2018) Rector of the Moscow State University (MSU) Victor Sadovnichy told Sputnik on Friday that an anti-doping laboratory within the university had already begun operating.

"It was transferred to MSU, it is working ... All the people [there] are the staff of Moscow State University, about 50 people. All the [medical] tests are underway. There were several World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) commissions. And they have no criticism on the blood tests we do, and the [lab's] license was prolonged," Sadovnichy said.

He noted that this operation could not yet be called full-fledged work of the laboratory, as only part of the work was being performed.

The Russian anti-doping system is being reformed amid the scandal over the alleged state-run doping program in the country, which resulted in a number of sanctions against Russian officials and athletes. Russian officials have refuted the allegations of the state-run doping program, while admitting that Russian sports had some issues with doping abuse.
