Board Of Directors Of Agriculture Linkage Programme Approves 26 Projects For Funding

The Board of Directors (BoD) of Agriculture Linkage Programme (ALP) has approved 26 agriculture sector research and development projects for funding for achieving higher per-acre yield to enhance farm income and alleviate poverty from the country, particularly from the rural ares.
The approval for the funding under ALP programme was given in the 30th meeting of ALP Board which met at Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) here Friday. Chairman, PARC Dr. Yusuf Zafar presided over the meeting whereas Executive Director of ALP Dr Ghulam Rasool briefed about the agenda of the meeting. All Technical Members of PARC and other senior officials also participated in the meeting.
In the meeting 33 projects were presented for evaluation and approval of Board of Directors of ALP. The Board approved 26 projects whereas 07 projects were deferred after detailed evaluation.
The main objective of the ALP was to promote and support agricultural research and development activities in accordance with the Pakistan's long term development goals and to promote long term scientific cooperation between Pakistan and the United States in agricultural sector.
While presiding over the meeting, Chairman PARC said that the ALP is an endowment fund established at PARC with the support of Government of USA to use for activities and projects in line with the Pakistan's long-term research and development goals for the agriculture sector.
Dr. Yusuf Zafar urged the members to reduce the processing time and also urged the BoD members to focus on good quality of research. He said that PARC running this program very efficiently since its inception.
