Moscow Primed for Developing Ties With Tbilisi as Zourabichvili Becomes President - Lavrov

Moscow is primed for developing good relations with Tbilisi, and it hopes for constructive cooperation as Salome Zourabichvili won the Georgian presidential election, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Friday

MILAN (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 07th December, 2018) Moscow is primed for developing good relations with Tbilisi, and it hopes for constructive cooperation as Salome Zourabichvili won the Georgian presidential election, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Friday.

"We wish to Zourabichvili to be the president of all the Georgians, and to do what will be good for all the Georgian people. As for our [bilateral relations], we want better relations with Tbilisi. I hope that the recent improvement of our relations, which includes regular flights, a significant tourist flow, and trade growth � and I believe Russia is Georgia's main trade partner � we want to seek more ways for constructive cooperation," Lavrov told reporters on the sidelines of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe Ministerial Council in Milan.

Zourabichvili, supported by the ruling Georgian Dream � Democratic Georgia party, won the presidential election in Georgia, securing almost 60 percent of votes in the second round, in late November.
