Sixty couples tied the knot at a mass marriage ceremony held here at Shah Shams Muhammadi ground on Friday evening.
Member Provincial Assembly Salman Naeem organised the ceremony and arranged for dowry, bridegroom dresses and jewellery for the couples.
The MPA had sought applications from his constituency for the mass marriage and 200 applications were received. Out of which 60 were finalised through a simple process.
Among others, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf central leader Jahangir Khan Tareen, parliamentarians Ibrahim Khan, Hanif Pitafi, Mahindar Pal Singh, Sardar Jahanzaib Waran, former MNA Nawab Amanullah, Abdul Hai Dasti, MD Bait-ul-Mall Aoun Abbas Bapi, Deputy Mayor Haji Saeed Ansari and others were present at the ceremony.

He wished the newly married couples best of luck in the life to come. He also announced gifts of Rs 10,000 each for the couple.
Tareen said that the incumbent government would establish sub-secretariat in south Punjab on July 1, 2019. Work would continue for establishment of a separate province, but it takes time due to various technicalities, which would be removed, he added.
He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan was taking all steps for welfare of the poor and needy to uplift their living standard. He said that the government would provide grants to deserving people instead of loan for starting their own businesses.
He said that stunted growth has been increased to 40 per cent since 1965, but no government paid attention to the serious issue, adding that Prime Minister Imran Khan has initiated strategy to tackle the issue.
Managing Director Bait-ul-Mall Aoun Abbas Bapi felicitated Salman Naeem for holding the ceremony. He urged philanthropists to come forward for this type of noble acts.
