Journalist Vyshinksy Arrest Part of Information War on Russia - Finnish Activist

The arrest in Ukraine of Kirill Vyshinsky, the chief of RIA Novosti Ukraine news portal, is part of Western information warfare against Russia, Finnish political and human rights activist Johan Backman said.

HELSINKI (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 30th November, 2018) The arrest in Ukraine of Kirill Vyshinsky, the chief of RIA Novosti Ukraine news portal, is part of Western information warfare against Russia, Finnish political and human rights activist Johan Backman said.

"Vyshinsky's case has been extremely politicized. It is an example of a new round of West's information war on Russia. We are talking about direct attacks on Russian journalists where the government in Kiev is merely doing what the US and UK special services tell it to do. We must resist this war," he said.

Vyshinsky, a Ukrainian citizen, was arrested in Kiev in May on suspicion of supporting breakaway eastern provinces. He was transferred to Kherson in the south and taken into custody on a court order, which has since been extended twice until December 28.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said during an annual Q&A session in June that the journalist had been arrested by Ukrainian authorities for his professional activities, in what he called an unacceptable move. The OSCE secretary general, Thomas Greminger, told Sputnik that his media watchdog would continue to closely follow the case.
