Auchan Retail Group Tops Rating of Largest Foreign Companies in Russia - Forbes

French international retail group Groupe Auchan SA has once again topped the list of the largest non-financial foreign companies operating in Russia following the 2017 results, thereby securing the position for several consecutive years, a Forbes rating showed on Wednesday

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 28th November, 2018) French international retail group Groupe Auchan SA has once again topped the list of the largest non-financial foreign companies operating in Russia following the 2017 results, thereby securing the position for several consecutive years, a Forbes rating showed on Wednesday.

The rating includes companies with more than 50 percent of foreign-owned shares. The companies are ranked by total revenues generated in 2017. The list does not include banks, insurance, leasing, investment and other financial companies. In addition, the rating does not take into account companies engaged in asset management.

Groupe Auchan with 356.1 billion rubles ($5.3 billion) in revenues is followed by Japan Tobacco International (JTI) and Philip Morris International (PMI), which generated 289.2 billion rubles and 276.2 billion rubles respectively.

The top three companies are followed by Toyota Motor Corporation and Volkswagen Group with 272 billion rubles and 237.6 billion rubles in revenues.

In total, revenues generated by the 50 largest foreign companies operating in Russia have increased this year by 3.3 percent to 5.7 trillion rubles, according to the rating.

The majority of the enterprises in the rating are machine-building companies, followed by those engaged in food industry and trade sector.
